SMART Specialization Strategies

​

As catalysts for innovation policy and growth, Smart Specialization Strategies (S3) are important factors in the success of cohesion policies. 

​

"Smart specialization strategies should be based on inter-regional strategic cooperation with the objectives of generating synergies between regional innovation, and development policies, supporting financial instruments, and the avoidance of  duplication."

Our activities are based on exploiting the results of the EU STOA project and include a bottom-up process where regional authorities share their development objectives with other regions and complimentary country activities. 

 

Collaborating to identify the main actors involved in development within specific regions, joining forces to conduct assessments of their regions' shortcomings and specific challenges, then analyzing the support instruments available and beginning transformational activities.

We advocate international collaboration and expansion of the EU S3 Platform and Initiatives. 

H2CI´s medical division is establishing a new global centre of excellence for Traditional Medicine in Brazil.

Brazilian Traditional Medicine

 

Helping to achieve holistic health and wellness with a comprehensive range of Traditional remedies, treatments, products and services.

Brazilian Traditional Medicine (BTM) is a medical system comprised of unique philosophies using nature to heal and maintain the human body.  Brazilian medical concepts and theories, Classical Brazilian medicine, and various specialities such as nutritional, hematology, oncology, gastroenterology, and paediatric medicine are included.

 

BTM is a form of “slow treatment” as compared to western medicine that often delivers instant relief. While conventional medicines target the symptoms, BTM, like Chinese Traditional Medicine, is concerned with correcting the underlying problem and restoring inner equilibrium so that the body can function autonomously.  

​

The NEBTM Initiative will capture traditional healing knowledge and aims to create livelihood alternatives for economically marginalized populations as well as, those seeking Complimentary Medicines and Treatments.  The plant growing farms and facilities will contain the Government endorsed 64 Priority species, plus several unique and endangered medicinal plant species.

 

  • NEBTM Medicinal Plant Program-  Education, Outreach, and Research

    • protect and cultivate endemic North and Northeastern Brazilian species of medicinal plants

    • identify, collect, and document significantly distinguishable ethnomedicinal plants and their ethnopharmacological applications

    • establishing formal BTM education programs (Practitioner/BS/MS/PhD levels)

    • international collaboration programs for the exchange of traditional medicine experts, practices, processes and distribution methods

    • Clinical Trials IAW RDC 9/2015 and Resolutions 466/2012 e 251/1997

    • establishment of specialized farms for the cultivation of medicinal plants

    • support to female and youth farmers-- from planting through to the marketing of their products

 

  • NEBTM Centre-

    • improving pre- and post-harvest processing of medicinal plants

    • creating a regional medicinal plant processing centre IAW with Brazilian RDC 26/2014 and WHO

    • creating market supply chains for locally produced medicinal herbs, plants and extracts  

 

  • Pharmacy @ Home-promote including medicinal plants in home gardens

    • raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity and ecosystem health

    • hands-on training on sustainable living techniques
